Bungay Town Football club

Lugsy's notes: edition 2 now out (July 28th 2016)

23 July 2016

Evening Everybody,

Just a quick update as promised,

I would like to thank Shaun Cole for his efforts on getting me on board,a pleasure to return and a personal thank you from myself.

Onto the new chairman, or old if we must be honest,Jon Fuller. Originally Jon got me to Bungay all of those years ago,it was an honour to work under him, he has Bungay Town's interests firmly at the forefront on everything he does, and with the committee i met the other night, the club is ready to move on. It will take a lot of hard work, but under Jon and big Kevin O'Beirne we will try and go in the right direction.

Stuart Campbell has signed on the dotted line - I remember giving Stu his 1st team debut years ago,he is for me a very important addition to our squad.

We played ok against Framlingham on Tuesday, 1st game for a lot of new faces, with many positives, and some negatives - conceding poor goals has to be worked on, as all 3 were avoidable, and fitness with some, very clear to see is an issue, but that will come, with 6 more friendlies coming up in 20 days. I would also like to add what a fantastic Referee Ivan Powell is, a good friend for many a year, and for me referees with composure and a smile, something so many others should look at.

We have added Mulbarton at home on Tuesday August 9th,an important game for us as a management team, and one i feel i couldn't refuse. It will obviously affect what side we take to Beccles on Sunday the 7th,but so be it,we have our Reserves who will be glad of another friendly,so a mix side it will have to be.

Our Reserves played last night,Wednesday 27th Vs Loddon Reserves, and played out a good 2-2 draw, from being 2-0 down the boys showed some character, some players were missing,so hopefully in the coming weeks the Reserves side will be more consistent and stronger.

We play Wenhaston at home tomorrow night,7-30ko,another perfect difficult fixture for the lads, with Liam Willis and Ryan Batchelor coming into the squad for their 1st outings in Bungay colours. Hopefully on Tuesday Vs AFC Hoxne Ally Mckenna will make his bow as well.

Good to see some supporters on Tuesday night, and good to see Sean Moley Payne and a hero of mine, Mark Harvey. Harvs never let me down in my time at Bungay before,11 of him and we would be right up there as 1 of the favourites this season.

Hi All,
Here we go again, it's an honour to be back at Bungay Town, a club where many years ago I had good times. It didn't take much thought to acceptthe chance to return, and hopefully get the Club and it's Officials and Volunteers to the level of ambition they want.
I would like to thank Shaun Cole,Tony Sprake and Kev O'Beirne for their patience, I hope we can make it worth the wait.
I'd also like to congratulate Craig Hunting and Sean Payne for guiding Bungay to 5th place, especially after so much upheaval last season with Clarkey's departure. Tim Clarke in my opinion did a great job in getting senior football back to the Maltings, and although his departure was sudden to some people, but not to others, it needs to go on record what a great job he did.
Back to Craig and Shaun, excellent finish in difficult circumstances with so many players leaving, and both of them deserve credit for a fine effort. Sadly Sean hasn't returned, which was his choice, and we wish him well but I can confirm Craig is signed and on board for the forthcoming season.
I would now welcome Jason Maher and Alan Crick to the 1st team management team. Jason is a very good friend, somebody I trust and getting him on board is a major coup for the club. Jason lives in Essex, but works in Ipswich, and his passion and drive will be a major asset for Bungay Town in the next few seasons.
Alan Crick is a very good and loyal friend,I have know him for many years. He was a good and honest player for Southwold for many years and had been learning his trade in management at Benhall in the SIL. I was delighted when he agreed to join us,his calming influence will be such a plus for the whole club in the future.
Onto signings, and before I name them all,it's been a pleasure to work with Mick Simpson, the Bungay secretary, what a job he does, which goes totally unnoticed by so many,a big thank you to Mick.
Last season's squad as I've said will all have a good shout this season and I can confirm upto tonight we have only lost Ryan Mcfadden to Easton and Nathan Causton to Poringland - I would like to wish them all the very best at their new clubs.
R.Howes,S.Olley,D.Mirner, J.Mirner,C.Hunting,D.Lowe,L.Spear
D. Wilby,J.Riches,A.Perrin,K.Riches have all committed to the cause. Shaun Whiteman has been working away and he will be on board next weekend,so the nucleus of the squad has stayed loyal, that's massive to us as a new management team.
Onto our new arrivals, and firstly three players returning to the Club: Thomas Daniels is back,a very different player to when he followed me to Gorleston 6 years ago and I am delighted to announce Callum Jones is back with us, he will get the snake pit talking, great signing, as is the return of Aidan Lowe, not much more to add but I on a personal front couldn't be happier to see him back with his local club - a fine addition on so many fronts .
We welcome Craig Bedingfield,Alex Meekan and Morgan Jones as well, all young talent that will drive us forward, energy to burn, good attitudes and tell fact all want to improve is a huge plus for all concerned.
For me I am also happy to welcome both Mark Clay and Marley Flute to Bungay Town. Mark comes from Gorleston Reserves, he is a wide player, whose work rate will be key, another player the snake pit will rise to, as he won't ever let us down, another team player full stop. Marley comes from Loddon, very young, with bags of ability, and an old head on young shoulders, he loves taking players on; he has a lot to learn obviously, but he will be a big feature in us going forward. Ashley Woods has agreed to sign as well,he has been out of the game for a while, but a good addition to the club.
Sammy Allen has signed but sadly he is injured at the moment, and as the friendlies begin this week there will be a couple more on board who I'm sure will add big quality to an already high quality squad. We feel we have the talent to put up a good fight this season and build on last season's fine effort.
Hope to.see a few of you at this week's games VS Framlingham Town and Wenhaston Utd.
More news on Reserves,U18's, Chairman change in my next notes.
