CAPTAIN Craig Hunting was the only ever-present in the Bungay team which ended its brilliant season by lifting the league and cup double. He played in all 39 games to take his career appearance tally to 459, and deservedly received the Anglian Combination division two title trophy and the junior league cup to cap a great season for the squad which saw them win 32 of the 39 games, draw four, and lose only three. They were unbeaten away from home throughout the season – 19 in all, including the league cup final against Wells played on the neutral FDC ground at Bowthorpe. Ryan McFadden, who joined the club at the start of the season, missed only one game, keeper Rob Howes missed only two and midfield dynamo Kevin Riches only three. In all 37 players figured in the first team. Aiden Lowe was top scorer with 23 goals in the 35 games he played, despite carrying a knee injury for most of the campaign. Shaun Flint was second in the scoring stakes with 14 despite only playing 17 games, and three others reached double figures – Kevin Riches (12), Dom Mirner (12), and Shaun Whiteman (10). Now the Black Dogs take a rest before returning to senior football in the Anglian Combination division one for the first time in five seasons when the 2015-16 campaign begins in August. And it will also mark the return to the Maltings Meadow main pitch in front of the grandstand after a year’s break during which the surface has been levelled, raised and re-sown in a £75,000 project to provide a better and more reliable playing surface.
