Update from Head of Football Richard Daniels

16 May 2022

An update on recent activity involving certain positions within the Football Club.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, with certain Roles vacated, with rumours circling, just need to keep you all in the loop.

Rob Moore has stood down as 1st Team Manager, he has been ill, as we all know, and he remained dedicated up until the end of the season. But after some serious thinking from himself, he decided he wanted to stand down.

Rob took over at a difficult time for the club, and after a tough start, settled into the role confidently. Players availability clearly became and issue after Christmas but he remained focused on where he wanted to take us. Commitment also becoming a problem, he still managed to get a 10th place finish, some will say that's disappointing, but i tend to differ under difficult circumstances.

We must thank Rob for all of his hard work and efforts, and wish him all the best wherever he turns up next in the local game. I am speaking to Dale Oxborrow this week (Rob's Assistant), and i hope to keep Dale at the club

Jeff Rowlands has also stood down from the Reserve Team Manager role, Jeff again, came in on a Temporary basis until the end of the season after replacing Jimmy Ross. Jeff steadied the ship, got a 6th pace finish, with the Reserves claiming some big scalps along the way. He felt it was in his best interests to stand down. Again we would like to thank Jeff for his efforts, he will stick to his beliefs, and I'm sure he will be back in the dugout somewhere shortly.

Sadly Mark Murray has also had to stand down as A team manager, he has taken on new work, which doesn't free up enough time for him to commit to running the A team on a weekly basis. Mark has done a Fantastic job, a role which he took head on after David Went had to stand down.

The club can't thank Mark enough, he was an excellent appointment, we would like to thank him for everything he has done, we wish him all the best inn his new job, and he is welcome back at the club if he wishes to return at anytime, as of course is Rob Moore.

With rumours flying around, we did not need to advertise for any of the vacant roles, with interviews beginning this Wednesday evening, many good applicants for many of the vacant roles, and i hope to make announcements no later than May 28th.

This brings me onto the Ladies, in which this has been another difficult season. But after Mark Fogarty's appointment, then after Mark's resignation around March, the Ladies have dug in, completed their fixtures, and seem in a very good place team spirit wise, which for the 1st time in many years, they have their presentation night with the Men's adult sides on May 28th at the Clubhouse. This is something i know the Ladies are looking forward to as they are now a big part of the WHOLE Club.

Jode Wells was put in temporary charge until the end of the season, and he done a steadying job, again under difficult circumstances, we thank Jode for his hard work, and conversations with Jode will take place on next season in the coming weeks and I'm sure we will make announcements on the Ladies going forward in early June.

Ben Dossett has completed his season with our U16's, and he now moves up to the U18's dugout. We again cant thank Ben enough for his efforts around the club, this season he has not only managed the U16's, he's helped Rob and Dale with the 1st team. He has also helped run the Reserve's a couple of times earlier in the season when Jimmy was suspended, and not forgetting at times he's helped Nathan Brunsdon in the U18 dugout. Ben has been invaluable to the club, and i personally look forward to working with him closer now with the U18's and Adult section for the forthcoming season.

There will be announcements on the U18 Changes, Reserve team manager and of course the A team Manager all hopefully by May 28th, on some of them roles though, they could be this week.

The Youth Section is flourishing, I'm not going to name them all 1 by 1 as they know who they are, but what a brilliant job they have all done, another season completed. to all the manager's, Boys and Girls teams, and of course the Wildcats, i cannot thank you all enough for your hard work and commitment. We must not forget the parents, who watch in the wind and the rain, their commitment is second to none, so thank you to every single one of you.

And this year i have managed to convince our Chairman Mr Fuller to put on a Management Bar-B-Q ON Saturday June 25th, this includes partners and their assistant managers as well, all welcome. i just don't seem to be able to get a free bar, I'm hoping some of the Committee will also show on this evening, so we can show we as a club are moving forward, and I'm hoping to make it an annual event, to show how grateful we are to these people.

Sorry to waffle on, but only right things are told to you all so you know what's going on behind the scenes.

I will announce all appointments as and when i make the decisions.

Wishing you all a nice break, well not long, but enjoy it as it won't be long before the 5-a-side Tournaments are upon us all again, and volunteers are always welcome to help.

R.Daniels
