Horsford 159 all out (41.5 overs) , Bungay 227 all out (45 overs)
Bungay 191 for 8 (45 overs), Martham 192 for 6 (36.1 overs)
Frettenham 116 for 2 (19 overs), Bungay 114 all out (36 overs)
Bungay 2nd XI vs Sprowston 3rd XI – 21.7.18 Bungay A made up for their heavy defeat against opponents Sprowston B earlier this season by securing a comfortable victory in the return fixture Saturday. On yet another hot day at the Maltings, it was music to the ears of the Bungay players when Sprowston won the toss and elected to field. It was Sprowston that ceased the early initiative by removing in-form David Fuller for just 4 runs and the returning Jack Masters (1) just a few balls later, Bungay struggling at 26-2. Cudden and Tom Wicks steadied the ship, and dealt well with the tricky Trivedi (2-39) putting away bad deliveries and pushing the score along to 84 before Wicks (14) was bowled by Guyton. Cudden by now had reached his 50 and ably supported by Jonah Wicks (22) Bungay were looking to post a very decent total. Sprowston finally got their man as Cudden was caught behind off Yallop (4-38) just 8 runs shy of a century, further contributions from the tail and a few extras saw Bungay reach 210 all out. Bungay knew they had a big task on their hands but always felt confident the bowlers could get the job done. Getting off to a great start, Masters clean bowled opener S Trivedi and Jak Clark removed the always dangerous Kerkham for 6. This was then followed by a great run out of Moorse courtesy of Cudden and another wicket for Masters bowling Cowe with a swinging yorker, Sprowston 30-4. Yallop and K Trivedi frustrated Bungay putting on a 62 run partnership but the introduction of Brown saw to Yallop (23) and kept the runs to a minimum. Guyton smashed a quickfire 35 and looked to give Sprowston a chance but 3 quick wickets thanks to Brown (3-9) and Mowday (2-3) ended all hope to hand Bungay an impressive and much deserved win. Bungay 2nd XI have no fixture next weekend but will look to continue their fine run of form in two weeks when they host basement boys Blundeston 1sts with an outside chance of promotion still possible.
Bungay CC - 2nd XI 222 for 4 (40.4 overs)
Acle CC - 3rd XI 218 for 9 (45.0 overs)
Coltishall CC - 1st XI 209 for 3 (45 overs)
Bungay CC - 2nd XI 212 for 3 (28.2 overs)
Bungay A returned to winning ways securing an emphatic 7 wicket win against Coltishall in Division 3 East of the Norfolk Cricket league. Seventeen year old Jude Ashken took the plaudits, as he completed a sparkling unbeaten century in a rapid run chase of 209 in the balmy July sun. Skipper Jak Clark took an aggressive approach to the game, and put Coltishall into bat hoping to make early inroads. Tight bowling from Reece Ling, Tom Wicks (1-22), and Callum Clark (1-30) was his reward with Coltishall sauntering to 95-2 after 30 overs. Scoring at just over 3 an over, Coltishall needed to try and move the score on, and some hitting from Browne (72*) and Dicks (36*) did that with 109 runs flowing in the last 15 overs. With the fielders and bowlers tiring in the heat, Bungay made it difficult for themselves with a series of errors and no balls flying to the boundary, helping boost Coltishall's score. Chasing 209 for victory, with a quick outfield to help, Ashken and Dave Fuller opened the batting and wasted no time in taking the bowling to task. At 10 overs the score was at 57, and by 20 overs the pair had reached 141. Ashken, in particular, played some unstoppable back foot drives scattering the Coltishall fielders. Coltishall tried seven different bowlers, and Fuller finally fell for a well-made 65, but at 161-1 the game was almost up. Ling (13) came in, and cleverly gave the strike to Ashken, who by now was scoring off nearly every shot played. He reached his deserved hundred greeted by cheers from the crowd in an innings that included 18 fours. Fourteen year old Tom Wicks sealed victory with successive fours to see Bungay to victory in only 28.2 overs. Bungay host Acle B on Saturday, and will be looking to get the successive victories that have so often eluded them this season.
Bungay CC - 2nd XI 89 all out (27.3 overs)
Norwich Bystanders CC - 1st XI 91 for 4 (18.1 overs)
Bungay A’s see-saw form continued this season, as they lost by 6 wickets to Norwich Bystanders in Division Three East. Batting first, Bungay suffered somewhat of a no show, as wickets fell at regular intervals, mustering only 89 runs for all ten wickets. Dickie Davies top scored with a breezy 27, but out of the rest, only Codd (19) and Flood (14) reached double figures. The pick of the bowling was from Daniel Bowman getting 4 wickets for 22 with the other wickets shared. Disappointed by their batting display, Bungay came out aggressively with Callum Clark (1-22) and Reece Ling (2-24) reducing Bystanders to 25-3, aided by a superb catch at gully by Davies. A miraculous victory looked possible, but Bungay were frustrated by some assured batting by Nathan Lake, who was happy to wait for the bad ball to dispatch to the boundary. Jak Clark (1-20) got another to leave them 59-4, but Bungay’s fine efforts with the ball were to no avail. Lake steered Bystanders home, finishing on 43 not out with plenty of overs to spare. Bungay were left wondering what difference another 30-40 runs would have made, and will look to bounce back with their trip to Coltishal this Saturday.
Bungay CC - 2nd XI 241 for 7
Horsford CC - 4th XI 182 for 8 (45.0 overs)
Bungay A returned to winning ways with a fine 59 run victory over Horsford C in Division 3 East of the Norfolk cricket league. On another excellent batting track skipper Olly Flood won the toss and elected to bat. After a patient start Bungay lost the wickets of Reece Ling (11) and Dave Fuller (9) and found themselves 53-2 after 18 overs, due to a very tight spell of 7 overs for 6 only runs from Alex Turner. With some much-needed impetus required, Dickie Davies join the opener Alex Codd who was now starting to find his eye. The pair rapidly put on 50 runs, before Davies had to retire from the field with knee problems. Some quick wickets followed with some lusty blows from Callum Clark (15), Bungay were 134-4, but Davies was able to return to the field. What proceed was an all-out assault on the Horsford bowling. Despite losing Codd for a well crafted 74 from 109 balls, Davies took a shine to anything bowled, registering a succession of boundaries to race past 50. The Horsford change bowlers were going for 9 an over, with Mowday (27*) joining in with a rapid innings of his own. Davies was on 96, all set for his ton until he was, unfortunately, well caught at square leg. His innings only came from 57 balls and included 13 fours and 6 sixes. Chasing 241, Horsford had a task, but they started brightly putting on 65 for the first wicket. It took the introduction of Reece Ling to break the deadlock, removing both openers. With a wicket for Mowday’s spin, Ling was able to get at the middle order. His fine bowling was able to instigate a middle order collapse, leaving Horsford 80-6, and Ling with 5 wickets for only 21 runs ably assisted by 3 fine catches from Oliver Hall. Bungay pressed to capture the remaining wickets with Mowday (2-27) and Jak Clark (1-38) getting one a piece, but some late order resistance from Heritage (50*) frustrated their attempts. Horsford finished on 182-8 leaving Bungay winners, and 3rd in the table with half the season gone. This Saturday they entrain Norwich Bystanders at the Maltings.
Martham 2nd XI 300 for 5 (45 overs), Bungay A 235 for 9 (45 overs)
Bungay A travelled to top of the table Martham A, expecting a tough game, they put in a spirited performance to lose by 65 runs in Division 3 East. Martham chose to bat on their flat wicket, and fast outfield and were off to a rapid start with 40 runs coming in the first four overs. Some powerful hitting from Senthumanathan supported by Shearing (41) did the damage until the spin of Mowday (62-1) was able to tempt Shearing into hitting one up to be caught. The spell of Jak Clark (2-72) finally bowled the dangerman Senthumanathan for 87. Some tighter bowling from Tom Wicks (1-40) and Spalding combined with some hard work in the field reduced the scoring rate. After batsman Fairbrother retired for 35, the next man, John Allen, proceeded to complete an 18 ball fifty which included five sixes. With Martham finishing at 300-5, Bungay were still proud of their efforts in the field with six players in the side under 18. In reply, skipper Flood turned to his young chargers to spearhead the chase. He was rewarded as fifteen year old Recce Ling (61) and seventeen year old Jude Ashken (64) both recorded their own fifties putting on over 120 for the first wicket. Ashken played some wonderful shots along ground, getting warm applause from the crowd. A fine 30 from fourteen year old Tom Wicks was another highlight. Richard Davies (12) then departed to a quick delivery from Allen. Bungay were scoring well, but with wickets falling in the middle order, the run rate required was a just beyond them. A late cameo from Ted Bedingfield (41) finished with his dismissal in the last over, as Bungay finished on 235-9. Out of that score, 65% of the runs were scored by players under 18. Everyone involved at the club should be rightly proud of the junior players' great progress this season.
Bungay CC As 227 for 0 (45.0 overs)
Frettenham CC 1st XI 182 for 9 (45.0 overs)
An unbroken opening partnership of 227 was the highlight of the day, as Bungay A recorded a fine victory over Frettenham in Division 3 East of the Norfolk Cricket league. Carl Cudden and Dave Fuller were in sparkling form as both players recorded fine centuries. Winning the toss, Bungay Captain Flood make no hesitation in batting first on an excellently prepared wicket and fast outfield. Both batsmen started well with Fuller shaking away the cobwebs with some fine pull and cut shots. Cudden soon found his mark with a series of drives through the off side, as Frettenham were unable to fashion a chance early on in the innings. Cudden was the first to 50, and Fuller soon followed. After that both accelerated to the 90’s, where the spell of Davison was particularly punished with 10 overs going for nearly 70 runs. Cudden was dropped at gully and this was the only chance of note, as his century was completed first off 130 balls. Fuller completed his 100 at the end of the innings from 123 balls. Bungay had not lost a single wicket, and for both players to get a hundred is certainly a club record. Chasing 227, Frettenham were quickly reduced to 33-3, as Clark (44-2) and Oliver Spalding (24-1) bowled some excellent lines. Jack Richards sought to swing things back in Frettenham’s favour as he counter attacked, registering several sixes. But, it was the introduction of Danny Mowday (2-37), now bowling spin, tempting Richards into one shot too many, finding the sprightly Bedingfield for a good catch in the deep. Oliver Hall (2-51) got two wickets in a much improved second spell, and the economical bowling of Reece Ling restricted Frettenham to 182-9 some 45 runs short of the target.
Bungay 'A' (22 points) beat Great Melton 'C' (2 points) by 8 wickets
Great Melton 'C' 77 all out off 36.3 overs (C.Clark 3-11)
Bungay 'A' 79 for 2 off 13.1 overs
After sitting out the previous week, Bungay A were keen to get back into action and to continue with their good form at home against Great Melton C. Captain, Dickie Davies, won the toss and elected to field, and this quickly appeared to be the correct decision, as opening bowlers Luke Pawsey and Callum Clark kept things tight and took quick wickets to reduce the opposition to 11 - 4 within the first 10 overs. They continued to bowl to tight lines, and whilst Melton dug in, they couldn't get the scoreboard moving. By the time 20 overs were up, the score had only crept up to 40. Pawsey finished his spell of 10 overs taking 2 wickets for just 10 runs. Reece Ling came into the attack, and with his first ball had Bridges, who had been holding things together for Melton, caught and bowled for 15. Fletcher who had helped Bridges frustrate the Bungay bowlers injured himself and could not continue. This exposed the young and inexperienced Melton tail. They held out valiantly until the 37th over and in the end took the final total to 77. Callum Clark finishing with 3 - 11.
Bungay 'A' (25 points) beat Winterton 'A' (9 points) by 54 runs
Bungay 'A' 229-9 off 45 overs (R Davies 60, P Thurbun 52 n.o., Ludlam 3-68)
Winterton 'A' 175-9 off 45 overs (L. Pawsey 4-20, R.Ling 3-35)
Bungay A stayed at the top of the Norfolk Cricket League Division 4 SE with a 54 run win over Winterton A at the Maltings on Saturday. Batting first, Bungay suffered an early blow when Cudden was caught in the gully second ball of the game. Jon Fuller and Reece Ling batted the next ten overs carefully until Fuller fell for 16. At 32-2 any concerns were calmed by a rapid innings of 60 by skipper Richard Davies, batting with Ling (16) and later Pawsey (13) the score was lifted to 124-4 at the 25 over mark. After losing Pawsey and Thompson-Friend in quick succession to the blowing of Ludham (3-68), it was left to debutant Paul Thurbon (51*), and club secretary Ted Bedingfield (20) to keep the tempo up. In a stand of 50, the pair scored freely against the tiring Winterton attack. Bedingfield found himself out plumb LBW which started a mini-collapse that included the wickets of Clark and Ling. Thurbon completed his deserved half century with the support of the number eleven Olly Flood, when they added over 20 runs in the last two overs.
Chasing 229, Winterton were put under immediate pressure from the tight bowling of Pawsey, who finished with figures of 4-20. Unfortunately support at the other end was in short supply, with no balls and wides conceded at the other end. Winterton were unable to form large partnerships, but the middle-order batted stubbornly, Bungay chipping away. A good second spell from Reece Ling (3-35), and a good 1-9 off 5 overs from Hayden Ling were the pick of the bowling from the clubs juniors. Owing to some cautious batting, Winterton’s chase lost momentum, but despite Bungay’s best efforts to obtain maximum points, they finished on 175-9 off their allotted overs.
Bungay 'A' (22 points) beat Blundeston & Somerleyton 'A' (1 point) by 10 wickets
Blundeston & Somerleyton 'A' 63 all out off 34 overs (C. Clark 5-16)
Bungay 'A' 65 for 0 wkts off 11 overs
Bungay 'A' (26 points) beat Great Yarmouth 'A' (5 points) by 352 runs
Bungay 'A' 419 for 9 wickets off 45 overs (G. Shipley 270 n.o., A. Flood 52 n.o., P. Kitchen 3-52)
Great Yarmouth 'A' 67 all out off 20.5 overs (L. Pawsey 5-23, S. Thompson-Friend 3-17)
Bungay A found their way back to winning ways in division four south east with an amazing 352 run victory against Great Yarmouth A. The highlight was a jaw dropping, Norfolk Cricket League record, 270 not out from Bungay all-rounder George Shipley.
After losing the toss, Bungay were surprisingly put into bat on a decent wicket, and Shipley quickly set to work attacking the opening bowling. A fast outfield and lusty blows, had boundaries racking up at an alarming rate. Cudden (16) and Bungay debutant James Cross (15) offered the support as Shipley completed his first hundred in the 16th over. Yarmouth were able to pick up wickets at the other end, but they were unable to contain George’s aggressive style of batting. The 150 soon followed, and supported by a cameo from skipper Davies (30), George was able to complete a superb double century to the delight of the crowd at the Malting’s Pavilion. To add to the records, there was still time for a 10th wicket stand of 123 runs between Shipley and Archie Flood. Batting at 11 and aged fourteen, Flood entered the fray completely unfazed, and was soon racking up big sixes, belying his young years. The pair scored freely in the closing stages and Flood was able to finish unbeaten with a maiden half century, and Shipley racking his way to 270. Finishing on 419-9, the club can be rightly proud of what could be a once in a lifetime achievement.
After the break, Clark wasted no time in getting among the wickets, striking in the first over. Luke Pawsey then bowled a miserly spell of 5-23, and coupled with some good fielding, the Yarmouth chase had all but collapsed. Steve Thompson-Friend (3-17) then wrapped the tail up to complete a victory, which will be long remembered by those who played and witnessed it.
Topcroft 'B' (25 points) beat Bungay 'A' (4 points) by 115 runs
Topcroft 'B' 166 for 7 wickets off 45 overs (A. Adcock 55)
Bungay 'A' 51 all out off 21.1 overs (J. Etteridge 3-8, R. Ellis 3-23)
Bungay 'A' (24 points) beat Vauxhall Mallards 'B' (7 points) by 2 wickets
Vauxhall Mallards 'B' 125 all out off 35.5 overs (J. Clark 3-3, G. Shipley 3-28)
Bungay 'A' 126 for 8 wkts off 23 overs (G. Shipley 54, J. Lewis 4-46, A. Kansara 3-29)
Bungay A made it three wins in three, but they almost become victims of their own downfall against the 10 man Vauxhall Mallards B team. With Mallards batting first, Pawsey’s guile, and spin (1-28) got the first breakthrough early on. This allowed Shipley’s pace and swing (3-28) to rip into their middle order. The pair conceded only 56 in their 20 overs, and gave the remainder of the bowling attack plenty to work with. Still, some middle order runs flowed with James Lewis (28) providing resistance. The introduction of Eldon (2-13) resumed control, taking the key wicket. The tail end was finished off by Jak Clark picking up three quick wickets.
Chasing 125, the total seemed no threat when the first wicket of Shipley fell at 71. He had struck a rapid 54, and with only 55 runs required all seemed well. The proceeding collapse to 119-8, owing to some good bowling by Lewis (4-46) and Kansara (3-29), and some very poor Bungay batting and decision making had gifted Mallards back into the game. Fortunately, some sensible batting by young Oliver Hall, aided by Pawsey, was able to steer Bungay home to a two wicket victory.
Bungay remain top of the early season table, and this Saturday visit local rivals Topcroft B at Saxlingham playing field.
Bungay 'A' (23 points) beat Colney (9 points) by 5 runs
Bungay 'A' 152 all out off 37.3 overs (G. Shipley 88, R. Wintle 3-25)
Colney 147 for 9 wkts off 45 Overs
Bungay travelled to Colney full of confidence following their comprehensive victory the following week. With skipper Davies absent, Pawsey took the reins in what promised to be a close affair. Colney won the toss and put Bungay in to bat.
The Bungay opening batsmen got off to a positive start going at 5 an over, with Shipley being the aggressor. C Cudden (9) unfortunately found the fielder and then once J Clark and James had come and gone without troubling the scorers all of a sudden Colney looked to be on top. Shipley remained steady at the crease though, and continued to put the bad ball away, pushing Bungay past 100. It was then a change of bowling that finally brought about an end to Shipley’s fine display, leaving him just 12 runs shy of his century. Small cameos from C Clark (23) and Flood (15) managed to get Bungay to the once unlikely total of 152.
Bungay got off to fantastic start with the ball once again, as skipper Pawsey (2-12) trapped Whitworth lbw in the 4th and just a few overs later Shipley (2-14) dismissed Carding in the same fashion. Some tight bowling and expert fielding from Bungay all round restricted Colney to just 19 for 2 from 15. Both Shipley and Pawsey claimed another victim each to cap off an opening 20 overs out of the top drawer. Wickets were falling, but while opener Butcher remained there was always the outside chance of Colney snatching a victory. Both Clarks tried their utmost to remove Butcher but he seemed persistent on seeing the innings through to the end. It wasn’t until the 40th over when keeper Flood skilfully run out Butcher (46) with a direct hit and swung the game back in Bungay’s favour. Fine spells from Hall (1-22) and Ling (0-19) coupled with some determined bowling at the death from J Clark just saw the Black Dogs over the line to claim a second win in as many games.
Next week Bungay entertain Vauxhall Mallards B, in which is sure to be their toughest test yet.
Bungay 'A' (25 points) beat Hales & Loddon 'A' (3 points) by 7 wickets
Hales & Loddon 'A' 105 all out off 36.5 overs (Jak Clark 5-22)
Bungay 'A' 106 for 3 wkts off 15.4 overs
After the tea interval the sun broke through and the Bungay openers Carl Cudden and Alex Codd started with real positive intent. Codd was unfortunately run out in the third over but by then score was already at 24. Cudden continued to attack the bowling and even though Jak Clark was dismissed early, accompanied by George Shipley, Cudden ensured that the score raced along. Cudden fell for 39 but by then Shipley was well set. Reece Ling batted sensibly to keep Shipley company and the target was reached with no real alarms in just the 16th over with Shipley finishing unbeaten on 39.
This was a great positive start to the season which can hopefully be maintained in the weeks to come.
Bungay A won the toss and elected to bat. Rain reduced game - 35 overs per side.

Bungay's season came to an end with a heavy defeat to promoted Costessey by 85 runs.
Costessey did not have things all their own way however, as they were reduced to 27 for 4 within the first 10 overs, as Danny Mowday ripped through the top order, taking all 4 wickets. Alfie James picked up the 5th wicket as he replaced Mowday, and the visitors were still in trouble at 49 for 5. Steve Horner led the fightback as he then dominated proceedings, as visiting side recovered to post a challenging 206 for 6, Horner grabbing an excellent 121 not out.
In reply, Bungay shuffled their usual order, but the visiting bowling made steady inroads through the batting as the home side never really threatened the stiff target. A late flurry by Tony Chang hoisted the home side up to 121 all out, with Sicklemore picking up 3-24.

Bungay's final away fixture was washed out just after the tea interval when a thunderstorm flooded the square. Despite the covers and efforts by the fielders to try and have the ground ready, standing water forced the abandonment with the game interestingly poised as Bungay had posted 169 all out.
Tim Porter and Tony Chang led the way with a steady partnership of 49 before Porter picked out mid-wicket. Chang and Davies pushed the run rate up, as the pitch started to ease a little, before Chang was caught for an excellent 40. Davies hit a rapid 36, and with contributions from Archie Buck, Dave Fuller and Ted Mattocks, the visitors pushed to score on to a very respectable and defendable 169 before the heavens open.

Bungay were soundly thrashed at home by promotion chasing Eaton, as the visiting side easily overhauled the 162 for 7 set for them.
Michael Barker led the way with a blistering 98 not out, as he dominated the home bowling. It was not a chanceless innings however as Bungay were left to rue dropped catches. In conjunction with the powerful Dom Clark, the pair put on 116 for the opening wicket at well over a run a ball before Clark hit a skier off Danny Mowday, which was claimed by Tony Chang. This slowed the scoring a little but did not deflect Barker who led his side to victory with 18 overs to spare.
Earlier, Bungay had made a creditable effort in getting to 162. Dickie Davies was promoted to open to cash in on the lack of fielders as Eaton were short of numbers at the start, and he put on a rapid 30 with Tim Porter before he found Butcher at mid off. Alex Codd joined his skipper and the pair ticked along at 4 runs per over, laying a solid foundation, but both perished just after reaching their half-centuries. Tight visiting bowling meant no boundaries in the last 20 overs, and the middle order could not capitalise, meaning that the total was short of what the home side expected, but that was put into context after the visiting batting.

Bungay's match with Hingham was cancelled as the home side could not prepare a wicket. Bungay next face Eaton, looking to make amends for the drubbing they received earlier in the season
Bungay A virtually ensured that they would finish outside the relegation places with a resounding 9 wicket thrashing of hapless local rivals Hales and Loddon A.
Chasing a below par score of 155, openers Alex Codd and Tim Porter ensured that the hosts got off to a good start, as 53 came off the first ten overs, Porter doing most of the scoring early on. Codd caught his captain up though, as the pair continued steadily, the century stand coming up in the 20th over, as the visiting bowlers struggled. Codd was first to reach his half-century, closely followed by Porter, as the pair put on 137 before Porter was bowled by Bennett for 57 in the 27th over. Tony Chang then helped Codd to complete the job 2 overs later, as Bungay won with over 15 overs to spare, Codd finishing on 69 not out.
Earlier, Bungay elected to bowl, with half an eye on the weather. Brandon Ling grabbed the first wicket, deceiving veteran Pete Dye. Jak Clark grabbed the wicket of skipper Stacey as he picked out Ling at cover. Ted Mattocks bowled with hostility, and removed Whiting for 22, but Andy Baker found support in Palmer, as the visitors moved slowly on. Haines finally got rid of Palmer, with the score at 102, and despite a late flurry from Baker, who scored an excellent 72, Ted Mattocks ripped through the late middle order, finishing up with 4-23, as Hales and Loddon posted an inadequate 155-7 off their allotted overs.

An astonishing victory by 5 wickets chasing down a stiff target of 268 propelled Bungay to 7th in Division Three, with skipper Tim Porter leading the chase with a mammoth 145.
Electing to bat, Overstrand got off to a solid start as father and son Tony and Ben Reedman punished any loose bowling, putting on 91 for the first wicket in 19 overs before Ben Reedman picked out Ed Fuller at mid off. Clarke came in and drove anything straight and invariably over the fielders for a rapid 33, and Tony Reedman perished for 46 looking to push the score on. Rogers and Jackson tucked into the bowling as the home sde looked to accelerate, but George Shipley bowled an excellent spell in the middle overs, picking up 4-41, and Callum Clark supported well without reward. Bungay stuck to their task on a small ground with quick outfield, as Overstrand racked up a challenging 268 for 9 off the allotted overs.
In reply, Bungay needed a good start and openers Porter and Alex Codd provided exactly that, as the pair put on 60 in 12 overs. Codd edged behind, but Porter was now well set, and he began to climb in to the bowling, as the total moved to 128 for 1 after 20 overs, Tony Chang providing good support before finding square leg. Jak Clarke continued the support, grabbing a few runs, and Martyn Ramm then joined Porter, who powered to his century in the 31st over, having given a chance when on 96. The skipper continued on, as the target was reeled in, getting to 145 before perishing to a return catch to Reedman with 2 runs to win. Haines flogged the next ball to the boundary to finish the job and end one of the highest run chases in Bungay's history. Bungay next entertain winless Hales & Loddon.

Bungay A suffered yet another defeat to promotion chasing Garboldisham but can take heart from a battling performance.
Put in to bat, the visitors started with aggressive intent as Taylor and Stevenson put on 84 in the first 15 overs. Jak Clark got a double breakthrough, removing Taylor and Ling in successive deliveries. Callum Clark thought he had Buckmaster caught behind, but the appeal was turned down, and Buckmaster made the hosts pay with a rapid century, supported by Baker as the home bowling was flogged around the ground.
In reply, Porter started aggressively, keeping the score at a run a ball early on, but edged behind when set. Stuart Smith then took control, and in partnership with Tony Chang, took Bungay to a glimpse of an unlikely victory, as the score moved to 164 for 3. The pair then fell in quick succession, and Garboldisham grabbed back control as the rest of the batting fell behind the asking rate. Honour in defeat but the next two games will shape the second team's season.

Bungay A slipped to another chastening defeat on a sultry afternoon at Melton Park.
Electing to bowl first, the visitors started reasonably well as the home team accumulated steadily. Jack Masters got the first breakthrough as Howard steered one to gully. Ireland joined Greenslade, and the pair continued in a controlled manner, as the score moved to 121 for 1 at the 30 over mark. Ireland then picked out the cover fielder, but Hughes joined Greenslade, who was eyeing a century, having played a good knock. Ed Masters ruined that thought by bowling him for 87, and Jack Masters returned to grab 3 wickets quickly as Bungay sniffed an opportunity to bowl the hosts out for under 200. Liam Hughes and Chris White had other ideas, and belted the bowling around in the last 5 overs as Great Melton finished on an imposing 224 for 6, helped in part by some lacklustre fielding.
In reply, Bungay started postiviely, but Porter fell for a rapid 18, and Jak Clarke and Martyn Ramm took the score to 47 in the 11th over, before Ramm picked out Phoenix at cover. Clark followed next over, and the rest of the innings became a bit of a procession, as Bungay stumbled to 73 for 7. Some lusty blows from Ed Masters got Bungay another batting point, including a six that cleared the wall to the adjoining house, but it was too little as Bungay were bundled out for a miserable 94. Bungay now need to up their performance against Garboldisham before their season defining matches against Overstrand and Hales & Loddon.

Bungay A hauled themselves out of the Division 3 relegation places with a comprehensive demolition of an out of sorts Rackheath, winning with just under half the overs to spare without loss, as Tim Porter and Alex Codd knocked off the winning target of 65 without due alarms.
The win was set up by the bowling and fielding, as the dangerous Pazhayattak was run out after some excellent work by Martyn Ramm and Alfie James. Patrick and O'Beirne accumulated steadily, but Patrick picked out Porter at mid off from Ed Fuller's excellent first spell, ably backed up by Brandon Ling. The decisive phase of the match occurred with the change of bowling, as Alfie James showed his bowling class, as he ripped through the top and middle order, grabbing a superb 4-10 from his 8 overs. Jak Clark got the key wicket of skipper Reg Brown without scoring, and it was left to the returning youngsters of Ling and Fuller to quickly dock the tail and leave Rackheath with an inadequate 64 all out, Fuller finishing with 3-13.
A welcome win, and another excellent bowling and fielding performance, which shows that Bungay has the stomach for the fight to avoid the drop this season.

Bungay remained in the relegation places at the halfway stage of the season, but showed encouraging signs with a battling performance against top of the table Costessey as the home side passed their modest target with only 4.3 overs and 5 wickets to spare.
George Shipley led the visiting attack, having the home batsmen hopping around, as he picked up 2-6 in his 8 overs, backed up by Callum Read with 1-10 from his 8, as Costessey struggled to their goal, at one stage wobbling at 19 for 3. Horner and Clark got them nearer the target but Callum Read removed Horner, and Brandon Ling got revenge on Secret by bowling him, but Hall and Clark hauled them over the line.
Earlier, Bungay were put in on a wet wicket as the match was reduced to 30 overs. Tim Porter and Alex Codd started positively, but Codd was run out by a direct hit, and the home side regrouped, Porter being bowled by Pollard in the 9th over with the score on 37. Shipley collared a boundary, but the middle order buckled in the face of some good bowling on an increasingly spiteful wicket, and the visitors subsided for a lowish 62 all out, but it almost proved enough.

Bungay's struggles continued as they were well beaten by a strong Winterton team. However, defending a modest 108, the home bowling made the visiting batting work hard for their win, as they took almost 30 overs to knock off the runs. Callum Clark got the sole success, deceiving Reeve with his spin, but the experienced Roper joined Bester to see Winterton home without further alarm.
Earlier, put in to bat, Bungay got off to a reasonable start as Stuart Smith looked comfortable until he edged one behind. Skipper Porter was solid, and was joined by Bedingfield, but at 46 for 1, Porter was bowled by Smith, and with a couple of batsmen soon following, the home side were 48 for 4. Vice captain Richard Davies collared a quick 18, but he was undone by the pace of Lockard, and again a cluster of wickets fell. Young guns Ed Fuller and Brandon Ling hauled the score over the hundred mark, but the home side were bundled out for a mediocre 108, Smith taking 4-25 backed by young Collins with 3-14.

Bungay A's season plunged to new depths as they were thrashed at Eaton by 10 wickets, recording their lowest score in living memory.
Put in to bat on a damp wicket, Bungay got off to a disastrous start as three wickets fell without a run on the board, as Nigel Massingham got Cudden to slash one to gully and the next two batsmen nicked to the keeper. Further mishaps followed as skipper Porter also edged behind, and when Vincent bowled Callum Clarke for 1, the next four followed without troubling the scorers as the total was an incredible 14 for 9! At this juncture, Martyn Ramm slapped a few late runs, but trying to farm the strike, Ben Cudden was run out, and Bungay folded for a paltry 26.
In reply, Michael Barker punished any loose bowling, scoring all the runs off the bat as Eaton took a mere 37 balls to polish off the target and win by 3.15 p.m. before tea was even ready!

Bungay finally set foot on home soil for the first time, but folded to a 53 run defeat at the hands of Hingham, manfully trying to chase down a stiff target of 241.
The reply started disastrously as skipper Porter dragged one on from Edwards, but the cornerstone of the hosts reply was a 119 run partnership between Carl Cudden and Jon Fuller, which had the home side well placed at the halfway stage, the pair ensuring that the target was within reach. Cudden drove the ball well, reaching an excellent 80, backed up by Fuller's 35. However, when Fuller took on the spin of Guy and was stumped, the middle order misfired as Bungay slumped to 138 for 5. Dave Fuller and Jak Clark kept the hosts in touch, but when Fuller skied one to midwicket, and Clark was bowled by Edwards, the tail put up token resistance to leave Bungay well short.
Earlier in the day, the Hingham batsmen took full toll of a lacklustre start by the Bungay bowlers and fielders, as 60 runs were plundered off the first 10 overs, a rash of wides and some thumping drives from Key putting the visitors on the front foot. Callum Read was introduced to the attack and removed both openers, and Callum Clark got rid of the dangerous Guy for a rapid 30 when his brother took a fine catch in the deep. Grearhardy and Anderson ensured that the start was not wasted, as the total was 161 in the 27th over before Anderson was dismissed. Rick Ferguson was brought on to bowl, and his slow leg-breaks confounded the batsmen, as Bungay clawed their way back into the game, Ferguson grabbing 4-25, backed up by Read with 4-35, as Hingham were dismissed for a challenging 240, which proved more than enough. Bungay stay out of the relegation places by superior runs per wicket, as they grabbed 9 points in defeat, and travel to Eaton next week, hoping to repeat the results of last season, which probably kept them in the Division.

Bungay A finally got their season going by thrashing local rivals Hales and Loddon A by 10 wickets with 67 balls to spare.
An astonishing unbeaten double-century partnership by young opener Alex Codd, who scored his maiden century, and backed up by his skipper Tim Porter, who weighed in with 70 not out, made sure that Bungay sailed past the decent total set earlier by the home side.
Getting off to a flying start, the opening pair put on 51 in the first ten overs, Codd riding his luck a little early on, while Porter imposed his mark on the innings. Montague had an over to forget, which accelerated the scoring, and the pair never looked back, both reaching their half-centuries in the 19th over, the score sitting then at 121 without loss. Codd then tucked into the change bowling, and moved ahead in the scoring stakes. Porter was then content to knock the bowling around, which enabled Codd to reach a fine maiden century, to his and the teams delight, as the visitors romped over the finish line.
Earlier, having been put in to bat, the home side started steadily against tidy bowling from Ed Fuller and Jak Clark. It was first change Brandon Ling who got the breakthrough, trapping the home skipper right in front, and shortly afterwards, the evergreen Milton Lindsay offered a simple return catch. Montague settled well, and punished any loose bowling. Duffield perished to a catch to wicketkeeper Will Tomson, giving Callum Clark a first senior wicket, but it was the returning Ed Fuller who got the key wicket of Montague, and followed up by snaffling Jary for good measure. Brandon Ling then snatched two wickets in successive deliveries to leave the home side reeling at 133 for 7. Andy Baker and Jamie Weston stayed positive, and played some sensible cricket to get the home side up and over the 200 mark, Jak Clark and Dave Fuller picking up late wickets.
A massive confidence boost for Bungay, as they hope that June will finally allow them to see some action on home turf, as they entertain Hingham next.

Heavy overnight rain saw the wading birds make their fortnightly appearance at the Maltings as the square was under water, forcing the abandonment of the game, meaning no home cricket for the second team in May. Bungay A make the short journey to Hales & Loddon A, looking to try and kick start their season
Bungay A's season hit a low note on Saturday as they were thrashed by 10 wickets as the home side knocked off the runs in a dozen overs, after the visitors were dismissed for 57.
Elceting to bat on a hot day, Bungay were soon in trouble as Carl Cudden was undone by a brute of a delivery from Halliwell, giving a sharp chance to second slip. When youngsters Ed Fuller and Callum Read also fell cheaply to slip catches from Grimwood, Bungay were in trouble at 15 for 3. Skipper Tim Porter and vice-captain Dickie Davies rallied briefly, as the pair brought up the half-century, before Davies perished at deep midwicket. Grimwood then drew Porter to edge one behind for 31, and the visitors resistance was over. The rest of the tail folded meekly as Garboldisham held on to some astonishing catches, as 50 for 3 became 57 all out.
Bungay slip to second bottom in the table, and host third bottom Overstrand on Saturday, hoping for a rapid change in fortunes.

Bungay A's home programme was delayed as heavy overnight and morning rain ensured that only a few wading birds ventured on to the square, forcing the game to be called off. Bungay A travel to promoted Garboldisham B next week.
Bungay A were soundly beaten by Rackheath in their season opener, but can take some encouragement for the season ahead with some promising performances from their younger players.
Put in to bat, Rackheath started slowly, but Pazhayattak, in his unorthodox style, tucked into the visiting bowling, before holing out to mid on. O'Beirne made a patient 24 before he was run out after Clark had spilled a catch, but Callum Read then threw the ball in to leave him short of his ground.Regi Brown continued the rapid scoring as he helped himself to a well made 83 before debutant Brandon Ling got him to edge one behind. Ling also trapped Jose in front for 28. Other debutant Ed Fuller bowled well and in his second spell, got due reward with a couple of wickets, and Jak Clark bowled well at the death, but Rackheath racked up an imposing 273 for 7 off the allottted overs.
In reply, openers Tom Bailey and Tim Porter started steadily, until the skipper was yorked by O'Beirne. Ed Fuller unluckily played on, and Dicke Davies and Archie Buck also perished as the visitors fell well behind the asking rate. Andy Tomson joined Bailey in the most signifcant partnership of the innings, Tomson making a rapid 38 before skying one to long on. Bailey reached an excellent half-century before Jose bowled him, and it was left to Jak Clark to hoist the visitors up to a respectable 181 all out, with Jose grabbing 5-34 at the end. Bungay A commence their home fixtures on Saturday, welcoming Great Melton C to the Maltings Pavilion.

Continual rain meant that the home side had to call off, leaving Bungay A idle for 3 weeks in a row.
The wettest April in over a century meant that the Maltings Meadow wicket was still underwater, forcing the abandonment for a second successive week.
Bungay A's match against Hemsby went the way of all the first Norfolk League weekend's fixtures as heavy rain wiped out the entire programme.

Bungay A grabbed the 5 points that they needed to be mathematically certain of Division 3 cricket next season, but somehow managed to lose a game that they should have won, as Kevin Burgess cracked 70 not out to rescue the home side from 89 for 6 to achieve their target of 189 in the final over.
Put in to bat, the visitors got off to a solid start as both openers Tim Porter and Tony Chang looked set. Both fell in successive deliveries again with the score at 47, but Dave McPhillie and Steve Davey consolidated well and at drinks, Bungay were well placed at 78 for 2. Davey was then smartly stumped and with Codd quickly following, Harry Bamber joined McPhillie, as Bungay took control. The pair added 78 for the 6th wicket in good time, before Bamber was run out for 40, McPhillie following in identical fashion for 59 as the visitors looked for quick runs at the death, but a score of 188 on a tricky pitch looked ample.
In reply, Drayton started badly as Danny Mowday ripped out a couple of early wickets as Jordan Barber took two smart catches at slip. The home side consolidated, but Barber's mixture of slower balls and medium pace got a breakthrough as he deceived Satish and removed skipper Crowe for a duck. Burgess settled quickly and began to get on top of the bowling, but Massingham's long vigil was ended and with Srihari was out, the score was 89 for 6 after 29 overs. Burgess and Chamberlain began to up the tempo, but Chamberlain lobbed up a catch off Carroll in the 38th over with the score at 138, and 46 was still needed from the final five overs. Burgess and Amar chanced their arms, and thrashed 45 off the next 4 overs, with the final run coming with 3 balls to spare. Bungay complete their programme at home to promoted Costessey.

Bungay A secured their Division 3 status with a comprehensive all-round performance as they beat Great Melton B by 59 runs at Maltings Meadow.
With the covers having done their job protecting the wicket from the early morning rain, the visitors asked Bungay to bat first. Openers Tim Porter and Tony Chang got off to a steady start against some decent opening bowling, but Porter was yorked by McCurly and Chang followed next ball feathering one behind off Hayward. Alfie James and Carl Cudden dug in, and scoring was slow at first, but after an incident with Coulson, who claimed he had been barged deliberately by James, the pair began to increase the run rate, putting on 80 for the 3rd wicket before James was bowled by Clarke for 32. Carl Cudden was well set, and reached his half-century before edging one to the keeper next ball. A flurry of wickets then followed as 117 for 3 became 142 for 8. Rick Ferguson then hit an unusual 27 at the end of the innings, as Bungay hoisted their score up to a challenging 175 all out from the allotted 45 overs.
In reply, opening bowlers Harry Bamber and Danny Mowday bowled with aggression, Mowday in particular giving little away. Alborough finally lost patience and was bowled by Bamber with the score at 38 after 11 overs. McKay then popped a catch up to Jordan Barber at silly mid-off off Mowday, and Henry Carroll grabbed the dangerous Loines as he picked out Ferguson at gully. Tristan Hipper bowled a tidy spell in the middle and was unlucky not to grab a wicket, but Tim Porter got the breakthrough, getting Brett to sky one to Mowday at mid-on. Jordan Barber was then introduced to the attack and bowling at slow medium pace, then ran through the lower middle order, picking up an excellent 4-13, as Great Melton slumped from 76 for 3 to 102 for 8. Hayward provided some defiance at the end but Carroll eventually bowled him, and Bamber took the final wicket as Bungay ran out worthy winners for the second week in a row. Bungay A prevailed in their relegation derby against Cringleford Lodge A, as they thrashed them by 151 runs.
Put in to bat on a wet wicket, openers Tim Porter and Tony Chang took advantage of some loose bowling to pile up 88 for the first wicket before Porter picked out the cover fielder. Skipper Chang went on to record his half-century as Jon Fuller played himself in. With a succession of batsmen losing their wickets as the ball stopped in the pitch, it was left to Danny Mowday to partner Fuller as Bungay moved steadily on to maximum batting points, posting an imposing 226 for 6 after the 45 overs, Jon Fuller finishing on 68 not out.
In reply,Cringleford A never looked like getting the target, and hostile opening spells from Mowday and new recruit Harry Bamber reduced the home side to 44 for 5. Henry Carroll then ripped out another couple of wickets, and with the younger bowlers also getting a run out with the ball, the home side were eventually dismissed for a distant 75. Bungay A now need to try and find another win, which should hopefully see them safe, and host Great Melton B on Saturday.

Bungay A were comfortably defeated by 66 runs by league leaders Martham on Saturday, and face relegation rivals Cringleford Lodge in a must win game this weekend.
Electing to bat first, Martham were kept in check early on by opening bowlers Danny Mowday and Tim Porter, but the opening pair of Punchard and Whatmough accumulated steadily with some quick running between the wickets. This did prove the undoing of Whatmough as he took on Martyn Ramm's arm at square leg and was short of his ground with the score on 73 after 16 overs. Porter by now was bowling with decent rhythm and with Jordan Barber also bowling well, the scoring began to slow. Porter finally got his first wicket for Bungay as he accounted for Colclough, trapping him in front. Barber then deceived Punchard as he picked out Varley at mid-off. Martham's middle order all contributed, as the score steadily moved on. Barber got Sayer caught behind for 31. Fairbrother was bowled by the returning Mowday, and Dunn grabbed a rapid 45 before picking out Dave MacPhillie at deep cover. Randell did exactly the same the next ball and with Spelman finding Ferguson at point, Mowday ended up with 4-61 off his overs, and Martham ended up with an imposing 226 for 8 off their 45 overs.
In reply, Bungay started badly as Porter misjudged a full toss from Randell, and Chang and MacPhillie also went early to leave the hosts 15 for 3. Ramm and Peter Varley dug in, but the rate was climbing. Varley played on from Sayer, and Codd also departed early. Barber was bowled by Whatmough and when Ramm's resistance was ended by Randell for 31, Bungay were teetering on 75 for 7. Danny Mowday andWill Hunt played some good shots, but Hunt was run out after a poor call from Mowday, and Ferguson joined Mowday. With fields of 7 slips, Martham attacked for the last two wickets, but the 9th wicket pair provided solid resistance. Mowday went for 26,but Ferguson and last man Alfie Wright somehow managed to bat out the overs and grab a final precious batting point as Bungay totalled a distant 160 for 9. Bungay can take good heart from a battling performance against the unbeaten runaway leaders, and will need this through a tricky final month of the season.

Bungay plunged back into the relegation fight as they agonisingly lost to Eaton by one run on Saturday.
Electing to field first, Bungay bowled steadily early on, and Luke Pawsey got the prolific Clarke for 17. He followed this up with the opener Brackenbury, just clipping his off stump. Young Alfie Wright bowled reasonably tidily, and grabbed the wickets of Davis and Duke, Will Hunt taking a good catch behind the timbers. Archer joined Sam Butcher, who by now was well-set. Skipper Tony Chang shuffled his bowling pack, bringing himself on to bowl, and playing a joker by calling up Tim Porter for his first bowling spell for 7 years. But to no avail, as Butcher grabbed his half-century and powered his way to his century in the next 8 overs. Danny Mowday finally got rid of Archer and Rob Duke, while Billington was run out after a poor call, as Bungay grabbed some consolation wickets, Eaton ending up on 225 for 7 after the allotted overs.
In reply, Bungay almost stuttered at the start, as Porter was dropped on nought, but he and Chang made the hosts pay, as their positive approach paid dividends. The half-century came up in the 11th over, as Porter unfurled some booming drives and Chang typically worked the ball around. The pair continued on, with the hundred up in the 18th over. Rob Duke made amends for some early punishment as he bowled Chang for 40, and Porter skied one to Davis at deep point for 66, and the score was 121 for 2 at the halfway stage. Dave McPhillie and Steve Davey continued to pick off the runs, and Bungay looked certain winners at 194 for 2 in the 39th over. Luke Billington bowled McPhillie for 27, and Codd, Mowday and Bedingfield perished in the quest for the final runs. Eaton however held their nerve, and Davey and Ferguson just fell that one run short of victory in a great game of cricket, that Bungay did not really deserve to lose. Bungay now stand three points above the relegation places and entertain unbeaten leaders Martham next week.

Bungay's match against relegation rivals Great Yarmouth was washed out along with the whole league programme
Saham Toney A 223-8, Bungay A 194-6.
Bungay A finally secured a win that lifted them out of the relegation zone, as they overcame Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway A by 5 wickets with just under 5 overs to spare.
Electing to bat, the visitors got off to a steady start, as Luke Pawsey and Danny Mowday bowled with good control. Mowday breached Duncan Snell's defences to get the hosts on the board. A double bowling change saw the returning Dave Fuller and Alfie James into the attack, James getting rid of Guy in his first over. Skipper David Hayes picked out Aaron Kirkpatrick at mid-wicket, who patrolled a big area all day, and the miserly Fuller reeled off 4 maidens before trapping Richard Daniels in front. Jamie Ayers had settled well and took the attack to the home side as he thumped an excellent half-century before the returning Pawsey demolished his wickets. Mowday had removed Rix for 5, and Duncan for a duck. Pawsey picked up Critoph late on, as the visitors posted 163 for 8 from their allotted overs, with the whole bowling unit performing well.
In reply, Bungay started steadily as Tim Porter quietly accumulated, and a rash of extras saw the home side ahead of the rate. Skipper Tony Chang walked across one from Ayers and lost his leg stump, but Fuller joined Porter and the pair moved steadily on to 62 for 1 before Guy got one to move away late and deceive Fuller. Will Hunt joined Porter, but was bowled by one that kept low after drinks. This brought the out-of-form Carl Cudden to the crease. Despite a shaky start, he began to find the range, as the pair began to up the tempo, despite David Read keeping one end tight. Cudden crashed a succession of boundaries, as the home side brought the required rate down. Porter brought up a patient half-century, as the hosts closed in on their target. He was finally undone by Ayers for 58, but Alex Codd crashed a couple of boundaries and Alfie James hit the winning runs as Bungay got home comfortably in the end for a welcome win.

Bungay A slipped into the relegation places in Division 3 as they crumbled to a heavy 63 run defeat at the hands of Costessey.
Electing to bowl, the visitors kept the opening batsmen in check, but it was the introduction of Danny Mowday that got the first breakthrough as he bowled opposing skipper Graham Taylor and then got rid of Downing. Pawsey grabbed a wicket, bowling the other opener, as Costessey struggled. Foxcroft then looked to tuck into the change bowling, scoring 26, but Steve Davey had him stumped, and with Bottoms dismissed cheaply and Horner left stranded, the visitors had hopes of bowling the home side out for under 120. Jack Taylor had other ideas, and took the attack to the bowlers, hitting a vital 46 not out, hoisting Costessey to 137 for 9 off the allotted overs, Danny Mowday picking up an excellent 5-10.
In reply, Bungay lost early wickets as Cudden and Chang fell cheaply. Tim Porter took 10 overs to get off the mark but began to get going until he picked out mid-off from Horner's wide full toss. Will Hunt was run out shortly afterwards, and with Bedingfield and Mowday going cheaply, Bungay were in deep trouble at 38 for 6. Steve Davey provided some resistance with 30 not out, but with no-one else reaching double figures, Bungay folded for a miserable 74 all out.

A freak hailstorm at half past one flooded the ground, and although drying quickly, with fresh rainfall, the teams decided that the pitch was not playable. A final thunderstorm at 4 p.m. put paid to proceedings, as the match was called off, as were all fixtures this weekend.
Bungay A continued their losing streak as they succumbed to Great Melton B at Town Close School by 4 wickets.
Winning the toss Melton took to the field first with regular bowler Gary Coulson unavailable it was youngsters Navin Sharma and Craig Woolrich to open the bowling. Bungay started slowly but steadily building a total but also regularly losing wickets, at 80-3 of 26 overs it looked if Bungay could keep enough wickets in hand they would be posting a good total. Melton skipper Chris McKay then brought change bowlers Jake Mardell and Fawad Kaiser into the attack which changed the game. The pair, bowling tightly in tandem, helped with some tidy fielding Melton were able to put pressure on the Bungay batsmen and restrict the runs. Mardell and Kaiser both finishing good spells with 3 wickets a piece with the Bungay innings finishing on 149 all out, skipper Tony Chang top-scoring with 38. After tea Melton’s reply with James Dorling (6) losing his wicket in the 3rd over bringing Eusha Fawad (25) to the crease. Looking in a positive mood Fawad looked to try and dominate the Bungay bowlers on a slow but unpredictable wicket, leaving well and hitting the bad ball to the boundary. After hitting a huge six over long on Fawad tried to repeat the stroke and was caught in the deep. After losing another couple of wickets Melton looked to be wobbling but Jon Moxon (33) and skipper Chris McKay (16no) steadied the ship and looked as if they would finish the job off scoring heavily in a few consecutive overs. Then out of nowhere McKay called Moxon through for an impossible run which resulted in the latter being run out for 33 which then brought George Ducker (19) to the crease, he carried on where Moxon had left off, playing positively and scoring quickly. Ducker then fell with the score on 125, needing just 25 to win off 16 overs it was left to McKay and Fawad Kaiser (6no) to see the hosts home crossing the line in the 35th over.

Bungay A slipped to another defeat to previously winless Cringleford Lodge A and are just 2 points above the relegation places.
Electing to bat, the home side lost Carl Cudden early on as he edged behind. Tim Porter and Tony Chang consolidated, but with the pitch offering low bounce, runs were hard to come by. Chang was eventually removed by Dean Critchfield, and Codd picked out square leg. Porter fell for 23, given out lbw and the score was a parlous 48 for 4 after 22 overs. Will Hunt fell just after the drinks break, and when Dave MacPhillie skied one to point, Bungay were 65 for 6. Danny Mowday briefly counter-attacked, while Steve Davey played sensibly, but the score lurched to 119 for 9, before Luke Pawsey joined Davey as the pair put on 33 priceless runs to ensure that Bungay had a defendable total, Davey ending up on 43 not out.
In reply, Danny Mowday struck early, as he rediscovered the art of swing bowling and got Choe-Sang to edge one to Will hunt behind the timbers. However this was the last success for some while as both Aspin and Wood rode their luck and chipped away at the target. Aspin finally made a mistake and miscued one to Mowday at square leg, leaving the visitors at 75 for 2 at the drinks break. Skipper Chang had to depart at this stage, leaving Porter to take over at the helm. Wood and Baker both rode their luck as the ball was constantly chipped between fielders, and when it did go to hand, chances were not taken. Mowday finally got rid of Baker as he chipped one to Ferguson at point. Luke Pawsey returned for his third spell, and whipped out a brace of batsmen, and Steve Davey also picked up a late wicket as Cringleford Lodge eventually stumbled over the line, Wood making 78 not out.

Bungay's second string suffered another thumping defeat, as Martham breezed past their inadequate 134 in only 13.4 overs without loss, as Alex Sayer and John Whatmough grabbed 74 not out and 53 not out respectively. Bungay wilted in the onslaught, as the pair did not offer a chance and treated the visiting bowling with disdain.
Earlier, electing to bat, Bungay lost Cudden early, but Tim Porter and Tony Chang kept the board ticking in the face of some hostile bowling. The pair put on a half-century stand before Chang gave a catch to gully off Dunn. Porter provided the only real resistance, continuing his good form by posting a half-century before being caught behind. Matthew Long and debutant Tristan Hipper provided some late resistance, but the home side worked their way through the lower order before the fireworks later on.

Bungay were handed a harsh cricket lesson by Eaton as they were thrashed by 194 runs.
Electing to bat, Eaton got off to a steady start, as openers Brackenbury and Clarke kept the score ticking over. Clarke gave a sharp chance to gully and skied one to square leg early on, but both chances were spilled. The opening pair started to increase tempo, and at drinks, the score was 114 without loss. Both openers cracked a half-century, with Clarke grabbing an imperious 120, as the home bowling and fielding wilted in the heat. Jordan Barber grabbed the first wicket, bowling Brackenbury for 56, but Sam Butcher supported Clarke as the total climbed to 226 before Clarke picked out the gully fielder. A gutsy last few overs kept the score to 273 for 5, Luke Pawsey picking up 3 wickets at the death.
In reply, Tim Porter maintained a lone vigil as the top order folded around him. He top scored with 31, with only a cameo of 19 from Davies and 23 from Mowday providing any support. Futter snatched 4-37 from his spell as the home side crumpled to a woeful 79 all out.

The weather proved the only victor on Saturday as a thunderstorm put paid to the game with Bungay on 5 without loss after 14 balls chasing Great Yarmouth's 212 all out.
Electing to bowl, opening bowlers Danny Mowday and Luke Pawsey got the batsmen hopping about as they exploited some indifferent bounce. Mowday grabbed the first wicket as Harvey nicked one to Will Hunt behind the timbers. Pawsey removed Cory, but Hodds took the attack to the bowlers, hitting 37 before Pawsey removed his off stump. Pawsey bowled through for 2-35, which could have been better with more luck. Alfie James found rhythm difficult but got Evans who edged behind for a duck. Richie Ruddick joined skipper Thompson, and the pair tucked into the change bowling of Alfie Wright and Austin Collins, before James and Mowday were brought back. Mowday beat Ruddick, who scored an excellent 67, and then ran through the tail, picking up 5-47, aided with a couple of run outs from Richard Hunt, the final wicket falling from a direct hit and denying Thompson his half-century as Great Yarmouth posted an imposing 212.

A devastating spell of 6-17 from Luke Pawsey demolished Saham Toney A as Bungay A got their season off the ground, delivering a 110 run thrashing.
Chasing down a challenging target of 192, the visitors got off to a flying start, punishing some loose bowling from Danny Mowday, but Pawsey soon found a good line, and got the first breakthrough, ripping through Rimmer's defences in the 4th over with the score on 22. Bowman looked to try and hit every ball out of the ground, and with opposing skipper Xavier Huckle also looking to dominate, the score had rattled along to 45 in the 8th over, before Pawsey took Huckle's off stump. Alfie James replaced Mowday, and struck in his first over, removing the dangerous Bowman. Pawsey then struck the hammer blows, grabbing 3 wickets in 4 balls, all bowled, to leave Saham Toney staggering on 57 for 6. James grabbed another wicket, and Pawsey bowled Steve Huckle first ball making the total 61 for 8. Alfie Wright and Matthew Long were introduced into the attack, and Long deceived Patterson with his first delivery, and Wright grabbed the last wicket via a run out to end Huckle's defiance, as the home side coasted to victory.
Earlier, electing to bat, Bungay lost opener Carl Cudden early as he skied on to mid-on. Skipper and vice-captain Tony Chang and Tim Porter ensured that the early overs were safely negotiated, as they put on 67 for the second wicket with few alarms, until Chang departed for a steady 36, trapped in front by Rimmer. Will Hunt joined Porter, who began to move up a gear, and reached his half-century, continuing his good form of the previous week. The pair put on 48 before Porter tried one aggressive shot too many and was bowled for a patient 67. Hunt then picked out mid-off for 9, and it was left to Danny Mowday and Alfie James to clatter the death bowling around as Bungay fell 9 short of maximum batting points, but the total proved to be more than enough.

Norfolk League Secretary Tim Porter hit a towering 141 not for Bungay as they posted 257 for 4, but his effortswere in vain as Kirkley and Lowestoft Railway passed the total for the loss of only 3 wickets.
Put in to bat on a sunny yet cold coastal afternoon, openers Tim Porter and Carl Cudden found runs at a premium against the swinging new ball, Simon Bessey rolling back the years with a miserly opening spell of 1-13 from his opening 8 overs. Cudden was caught behind for 13, and skipper Chang joined Porter at the crease. Chang began to up the runs tempo as the pair put on 62 before Chang was deceived by veteran Spurgeon and stumped for 27. Porter was well set now, and joined by debutant 13-year old Will Hunt, began to move the score along. Porter reached his half-century in the 33rd over, and Hunt played a couple of pleasing shots before being bowled by Howes for 9. Porter was joined by Dickie Davies, and the pair stamped hard on the accelerator as they put on 60 in 6 overs, Porter reaching his century in the 39th over. Davies fell to a good catch in the deep for 21, and Alfie James joined Porter as the pair hoisted the visitors to an imposing 257 for 4 off the allotted overs.
In reply, the hosts lost Guy in the second over before a run was scored as Luke Pawsey breached his defences. However Laws and Palfrey soon settled in, and began to tuck into some wayward bowling, as the score moved on to 62 before debutant Alfie Wright clean bowled Palfrey for 30. David Hayes crashed a breezy 35 before chipping one to Danny Mowday at point off James, leaving the home side at 115 for 3 at the halfway stage. This proved to be the last success for Bungay as Laws and Ayers punished some woeful bowling and indifferent fielding, the exception being keeper Hunt, who conceded only 2 byes, and running well between the wickets, kept up with the required rate. Skipper Chang rotated the bowlers but the batsmen were well set and won with 3 overs to spare to hand Bungay a chastening defeat.
