The best local talent in the area at this age group saw the Beccles lads come away with a 2 nil victory. Bungay got off to the worst possible start when in the first minute Beccles striker Webb was allowed to nod home from close range. The game settled down with both sides playing neat passing football on the excellent playing surface. Bungay had a great opportunity to equalize when the pacey Mortimer(E) found himself free in the box but his shot was wide. Another setback soon followed for Bungay as the same player player left the pitch with a rib injury after colliding with the Beccles keeper. Late in the half Beccles strikers Webb and Read were both unable to convert good chances.
Into the 2nd period and it wasn't long before Beccles increased their lead. Webb outpacing the Bungay defence and curling a great shot into the far corner. The game continued with neat football all over the pitch, although Bungay struggled with their final ball to the striker. Further chances did fall to both sides. The dangerous Ellis broke through Bungay's defence on more than one occasion but shot wide. Bungay also going close with debutant Tennant's long range effort narrowly missing the top corner, and Mitchel testing the Beccles' Norfolk u18 keeper Johnson.
The game was played in good spirit throughout and both sides can be proud of their performance.
