Dear Managers, Parents and players
There has been some controversy locally as a few clubs are refusing to play any youth or senior football until January 2021.
At Bungay the senior management committee have decided that youth football can re-start, in line with government guidelines, from Wednesday 3rd December. Training sessions may resume and some leagues are posting fixtures for matches on Sunday 6th December.
This is a difficult decision but as the schools are still trying to operate as usual it would seem reasonable for youth football to restart. We believe it is in the best interests of children’s physical health and mental well-being that they return to organised sport.
The same restrictions that were in place when we stopped in November are still in place when we restart on Wednesday. We are still waiting for any detailed, updated advice from the FA and will advise everyone accordingly should procedures change.
Obviously, we are not qualified to pronounce on one of the most challenging decisions most of us will have to make in our lifetimes but we are conscious of the prevailing government advice.
Therefore, the club will restart youth football from Wednesday 3rd December although with the proviso that any manager, parent or player who would prefer not to attend may exercise that right without fear of penalty.
I hope everyone has a healthy and happy Christmas and that we all keep safe in the prevailing conditions.
