Bungay Town Football club

Head of Football's update, 18/5/21

19 May 2021

Last weekend our Ladies beat a gallant Thetford side 15-0,a good warm up for what is in front of them this weekend. They play Ipswich Town Ladies in the Suffolk Cup Semi Finals. As we know it's a tough encounter, but this team doesn't know when it's beat. So we would like to wish Graham and his team all the very best for this tough game.
Game is at Framlingham Town FC and its a 2-30ko.

Sadly our U16's Sunday finished with a 5-0 loss in their last game of the season. Carl Gower and Glen Lovett have had this team for 9 seasons, and have done a fantastic job bringing them through the years. Waveney were just that bit better on the day,but the boys can hold their heads high, they have been a credit to the club, with a brilliant set of parents who have supported them all the way through.

Our U15's were beaten 2-1 at Beccles,Ben Dossett's side apparently were just not at the races, and were duly beaten.

I took in the U14's game,Mike James side,at home to Martham, this was an entertaining game in which Bungay ran out 5-3 winners. It is clear to see as well that Mike and Steve Moran's hard work is also starting to find the benefits. The team played very well, defended strongly, and all 5 goals were good team goals. It also must be said what a credit Martham's players and supporters are to their club, game was played and supported in good spirit throughout. I know its Tuesday morning, but I just hope someone has managed to get the Referee Jon Fuller out of the centre circle.

Sadly Andy Adcock's U13's lost their cup Final at Holt,2-1 to Old Catton. Another young side that is getting better and better. Disappointing for the management and team,I understand missed chances cost the boys the win. But again, well done to all involved.

I also took in on Saturday the Anglian Combination Premier Cup Semi Final between Caister and Easton, played at Bungay.
On a cold afternoon, with people watching from the Patio,it was a hard fought game in which Caister won 2-1 with a goal 8 minutes from time. Easton,a league lower than Caister played their part, and can feel a touch aggrieved they didn't take it to penalties. Caister are clearly a club going in the right direction, playing quite a lot of young lads(apart from Wazza Nicholls),and we would like to wish them all the best in the final Vs Stalham Town.
