BUNGAY Town have appointed a new first team manager as they make plans for the new 2021-22 season. Rob Moore was introduced at the club’s annual meeting, held in the open air on Tuesday April 13, following interviews last week, by the club’s head of football Richard Daniels. He said Moore, who is 31, was previously first team coach at Kirkley and Pakefield FC, of the Thurlow Nunn League premier division. “We had some good candidates, but Rob stood out a mile,” he said. “The club has had two poor years, and Rob is the key to the future. He is not just here as first team manager. We will discuss the U18s and the other senior teams. We will have a period of settling in and we need to support him in evert way we can.” Moore, who played for Kirkley, though not in the first team, before becoming coach, said he was looking forward to the new challenge. “The first aim us to create a good atmosphere for the club and the teams and the supporters,” he said. “I will assess all the players and everyone will get a fair chance before we look to see if we need to bring in others. “I am really excited about becoming Bungay’s manager. It is a big club, with great facilities – some have called it a sleeping giant. Everything is set up for the first team to be doing well, and we want the players to enjoy it.” Moore brings Alan Day with him as his assistant, and he said John Riches would continue as first team captain.
